KHALSA ( PART - 3 ) BECOME A GOOD HUMAN BEING
ੴ
SATNAAM SHRI WAHEGURU
KHALSA -THE PIOUS FRACTION OF THE UNIVERSE
(PART – 3)
(PART – 3)
BECOME A GOOD HUMAN BEING
LIVE IN GRATITUDE
As I have always written and as I
believe that a GURU bless his children with the best he has. GURU teach us,
guide us to be better human beings and help us, protect us from so many odd
circumstances and impurities of the
universe. Guru is the one whose teachings connect us to God.
“ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੋਊ ਖੜੇ ਕਾਕੇ ਲਾਗੂੰ ਪਾਓਂ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ
ਗੁਰੂ
ਆਪਣਾ
ਜਿਨ
ਗੋਬਿੰਦ
ਦੀਓ
ਦਿਖਾਏ”
Guru Govind dou khade, kake
lagoon paayon,
Balihari Guru aapno, Jin Govind dio dhikhaye"
So a Guru should be worshipped
before worshipping GOD, as Guru has shown us the path to god.
With these intentions of giving
his followers the best of morals GURU NANAK DEV JI started a new culture, which
is a great responsibility in itself. He himself was born in a Hindu Family and
believe in all the Vedic and traditional ritual to be followed in Hindu
families. He had full faith into religious teachings and philosophy. He studied
Hinduism and Islam, Arabic and Persian languages extensively.
His teachings also had profound
social implications. He denounced the caste system prevalent in Hinduism and
taught external aides like rituals and priests were not of importance, you can
yourself connect to the extreme power and achieve whatever you want to achieve.
He taught his followers to
concentrate on spiritual practices which would enable them to transform their
egotism into selflessness, your negativities into the positivities. He was more interested in spending time in
meditation and selfless service to the divine within each human being. His
inner spiritual experiences encouraged him to focus more on his spiritual life
and spiritual ideals.
He married and had children also,
which teaches us to follow the RIGHT WAY OF LIVING (DHARAMA): A way for people to live and conduct
their lives with purpose,CONSEQUENCES
OF YOUR ACTIONS ( KARMA) resulting from the way you live that life while living in the materialistic world.
OF YOUR ACTIONS ( KARMA) resulting from the way you live that life while living in the materialistic world.
He was basically against the
caste system and the people who would misguide the innocent people in name of
god. He was against the malpractices being done in name of RELIGION (DHARMA)
and was upset with these people. That is why he wanted to stop the division of
people in terms of CASTE.
Here I would like to mention that
not only GURU NANAK DEV JI, But every Saint was never in favour of division of
humanity, they all believe in oneness of humanity and GOD.
“Dinas na rain,Ved nahi shaster,
taha base, Keh
kabir nar tiseh dhiyawo babriyaa sansara”
“ਦਿਨਸ ਨਾ ਰੈਣ ਵੇਦ ਨਾਹੀ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ , ਤਹਾ ਬਸੈ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰਾ, ਕਹਿ
ਕਬੀਰ
ਨਰ
ਤਿਸਹਿ ਧਯਾਵੋ , ਬਾਬਰੀਆਂ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ”
Where there is neither day nor
light and neither Vedas nor Shastra, even then there was the formless lord,
says bhagat kabeer. So meditate on him, o mad man of the world.
Every VEDIC SCRIPTURES OR HOLY BOOKS believe in one God and we can read lot about God in these books, but we cannot find God by just reading these books, no one found could find God in books, books show us the path to God. GOD was there even before the formation or evolution of creatures; he is there and will be there forever.
He was their during the time of Jesus
Christ, Hazrat Mohamad sahib, Mahavir jain, Mahatama Buddha, Shri Krishna, Shri
Ram and even before GURU JI. God was there even before Bhagwad Geeta, Holy
Koran, Holy bible and Shri Guru Granth Sahib ji were written. GOD is eternal
(anadi) without beginning or end, existing and continuing forever. Every saint
believes in oneness of humanity.
All the holy books portray the
form of god as seen by the author of the book, one can see him as he or she
would like to see god, we see god in form of our imaginations.
“Kimat payi na kehya jayi, kehan wale tere
rahe samaye”
His value cannot be estimated, he cannot be described, O lord, those who could describe you, remain immersed and absorbed in you.
“Jin prem kio tin hi prabh
paayio”
You have to be one with him.
You have to be one with him.
Guru bless us with all positive
energies, they show us and teach us positivity and when we feel them and be one
with them we get enlightened, we are not enlightened when we see a picture or
just bow down for formality, but when we feel them as our part and follow their
teachings .
So only studying the books do not
connect to that super power, but following the path shown in those books does.
We have to follow the sacred path. whoever followed that path has realised the
power of God. God is not of any shape or color he is formless and without any
physical body, he is a power, a universal frequency, which provides us
positivity for doing good, we can give him any form or shape as we want to see
it.
Guru Nanak Dev JI taught that God
was beyond religious dogma and external definition. He said he would follow
neither the Muslim or Hindu religion, but just God’s path. This was of social
significance because of the political and social conflict between Islam and
Hinduism at that time. During his lifetime, Guru Nanak attracted followers from
the Hindu, Muslim, and other religious traditions.
In his words
“Awal allah nor upaya kudrat ke sab bande
, ek
noor te sab jag upjaya kaun bhale kaun mande”
Every human being is generated from the single source, then how can we differentiate who is good or bad.
Guru ji, took out all the
practical solutions to the problems; teach people how to clean your karma by
doing good deeds. First thing he would guide people was to live in GRATTITUDE
towards god,
“TERA BHAANA MEETHA LAGE”
O God! Whatever you do is good
for me and I am enjoying it and I surrender myself to you.
It is when you live in gratitude
then GOD will take care of you, you need not worry for your Prarabhdh or others
karama, he will take care of you in best ways, just believe and trust him, then
see what happens, he will never let you down.
"Kabir mann nirmal bhaia jaisa
ganga neer, Pache lago har phireh kahat kabeer kabeer"(55)
Kabeer explains that when my mind
become immaculate like the water of ganges, then lord himself follows after
me,calling my name kabeer, kabeer.
Ahh! What a serene scene it will
be, when that supreme power is taking your name and calling you, so blessed
moment.
“There is One God, His name is
Truth, He is the Creator, He fears none, he is without hate, He never dies, He
is beyond the cycle of births and death, He is self illuminated, He is realized
by the kindness of the true Guru. He was true in the beginning, He was true
when the ages commenced and has ever been true and He is true even now.
Ek onkaar (ੴ, ਇੱਕ ਓਅੰਕਾਰ) is the
symbol that represents the one supreme reality , it has a prominent position at
the head of the Mulmantar and the opening words of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib
ji, Ik (ਇੱਕ)
means one and only one, who cannot be compared or contrasted with any other,
the "unmanifest, God in power, the holy word, the primal manifestation of
Godhead by which and in which all live, move and have their being and by which
all find a way back to Absolute God, the Supreme Reality."
Ek onkaar (ੴ, ਇੱਕ ਓਅੰਕਾਰ) is the
combination of the numeral ੧, one (Ikk ਇੱਕ) and the first letter of the
word Onkar (Constant taken to mean God) - which also happens to be the first
letter of the Gurmukhī script - an ūṛā(ੳ), coupled with a specially adapted vowel
symbol hōṛā (ਹੋੜਾ ) yielding ੴ
Guru ji taught his followers
three basic religious principles.
1. Selflessness– sharing with
others, and giving to those who are less fortunate. But, also a selflessness of
attitude – avoiding the pitfalls of egoism, pride and jealousy.
2. Earning an honest living –
living without deceit, exploitation or fraud.
3. Naam Japna – Meditating on
God’s name and repeating a mantra. Through the repetition of God’s name, Nanak
taught that a follower could free himself from selfish tendencies and cultivate
happiness. However, Nanak taught it was not just enough to repeat a mantra
mechanically, but with selflessness and real zeal.
To avoid the pitfalls of Ego,
Nanak encouraged the following of a Guru – someone who could lead the seeker to
avoid ego choice. By following the teachings, it helps to
cultivate a spiritual attitude of devotion and discipline. Guru Nanak always
stressed on the inner spiritual awakening.
So, like I said in my previous
articles, While studying for the various reasons for the suffering of people, I
read various Vedic sciences and learned a lot about it, Here my topic is not
the discussions on the sciences but to tell
you the yeast of all the principles of GURU JI, that how you get blessed
following them.
I have noticed the persons who
totally believe in the teaching of GURU JI and GURU GRANTH SAHIB JI and follow
the rituals are totally successful and happy, they need not to go to any
astrologer to ask about happenings or misshaping or sorrows of his life, as
GURU JI has given solution to every problem in form of rituals in or RehatMaryada (daily routines to follow). Who ever follows
them religiously is never in pain as faith in guru gives you consolation and
you develop patience against problems.
In my next article I will be
taking up how we get blessed following the rituals, How we develop immunity
and are blessed in terms of health leaving other materialistic things aside.
GURU JI BLESS EVERYONE..
