  SUMMARY OF GARUD PURAAN GUIDANCE FOR THE SOUL TO CHOOSE NEXT BIRTH WISELY We have been listening to stories about SWARAG (Heaven)and NARAK (Hell)since childhood, I used to think these hell or heaven are some institutes constructed somewhere up in the sky or down under the earth, where one room is having boiling oil, the other having hot poles, one room for hitting, a room full of snakes and so on. For satisfying my curiosity I tried to understand everything. Then I came to know that these are metaphorical, just to make people understand. Not everything is physical or geographical in this world. A hell or heaven on this earth, is a state of mind, a state of surroundings or a place where you are living or are forced to live in. For example, People living in brothels, mental asylums and places where human slaves live are an example of hell, no one wants to stay there, but one has to. People fighting with one another, one killing the other person or persons is examples of hell....
